The children found our about how the French celebrate Easter. or Pâques. They then used their knowledge of colours to colour in an Easter picture.

Bon anniversaire

Year 3 wrote birthday invitations using all the language they have learnt in the Celebration topic. They first revised numbers and months of the year.

Lockdown learning

During lockdown, the children learnt about the months of the year, numbers from 1-20, playground games and finding out their birthday date in French.

Using combien de

Year 3 revised numbers 1-10, and learnt numbers 11 and 12. They then practised saying the numbers and singing songs to help them to remember them. They used Combien de in sentences, remembering to as -s when writing plurals.

Le fermier dans son pre

Year 3 practised the song and learnt that some nouns are masculine and some are feminine. They then recapped on the order of the verses and then ordered and labelled pictures showing the order of the song.

Les jeux et les chansons

Year 3 started a new topic – games and songs. They started off by comparing the English and French versions of the Farmer in the Dell. They learnt the words to the song and have started to memorise it. They then matched the images and words found in the song: Le fermier dans son pre.

Quel age as-tu?

Year 3 learnt how to pronounce this question. They practised asking it and replying with J’ai huit or sept ans. They also practised all the vocabulary they’d learnt in this unit by having a conversation with their partner.

Year 3 learnt to use the phrase: Comment ca va? and reply to their partner. They sang songs and made up actions to a variety of answers.

Numbers

Year 3 have been learning and practising numbers 1-10 in French. They also practised greeting each other, asking their names and replying with Je m’appelle……

Bonjour

Year 3 practised using Bonjour by singing a song to the tune of London’s Burning. They also listened to a song to recognise the ‘j’ sound. Then learnt numbers un, deux, trois, which they practised by playing rock, paper, scissors.
